What You'll Accomplish
By the end of this guide, you'll be able to:
✅ Send podcast feed links automatically through Manychat
✅ Add and manage listeners directly from chat conversations
✅ Tag listeners and track engagement
✅ Share episodes and signup pages through automated messages
✅ Update listener information and manage access
Getting Started
To use this integration, you'll need:
An active Hello Audio account with at least one podcast feed
A Manychat account with the Hello Audio integration installed (see below)
Installing the Hello Audio app integration in Manychat
1. Connect Hello Audio to Manychat
In the Integrations page of your Hello Audio account, click Install under Manychat, then Install again to open your Manychat account. Agree to the permissions, select your account, then paste your Hello Audio API key.
2. Connect Manychat to Hello Audio
In Manychat, visit your API settings page and generate a Manychat API key if you don't have one already. Copy the API key from Manychat and return to the Hello Audio Integrations page. Paste the API key in the Manychat integration and click Connect.
Both steps are necessary to pass information between Hello Audio to Manychat.
Example: How to add a listener to a private podcast feed when they comment on an Instagram Post
The quickest way to get familiar with the integration is to see an example. Below are the steps to create an automations which takes an Instagram optin via DM, adds them to private podcast feed in Hello Audio, and sends them their unique link as a reply.
This video walks through the entire process of setting up the Manychat automation to add listeners to a Hello Audio feed. Follow along with the steps below.
This template link will allow you to build the example automation shown in this help doc.
Step 1: Create a way to store listener unique links in a Manychat User Field
In Manychat, click "Settings" on the left, then scroll down and click "Fields".
Click "New User Fields" at the top and give it a name like the title of your feed. The type should be "Text". Add a description if you'd like, the click "Create".
Create a User Field for each feed you'd like to send links for via Manychat.
Step 2: Build the Automation to send their unique link
As an overview, this will be what the finished automation looks like. You'll look for comments on a Post, ask permission to send them messages for 24 hours, ask for their email, then add them to the feed and send them their link. The process below walks through the build out of this automation.
In Manychat, click "Automation" on the left, "New Automation" at the top, "Start from Scratch" at the top, then choose "Start with a blank". You should see an Automation builder like the following image:
Click "New Trigger" and select "User comments on your Post or Reel" for this example. Then select your Post and set a keyword if you'd like.
Enter the message text and add a button. Customize this text as you'd like. The button is required as an engagement from the listener to your DMs, which allows you to message them for the next 24 hours.
Click the + button to add another Instagram step. Click the "Send Message" and set to "Send within 24 hour window". Delete the default content block by clicking the X.
Scroll down a bit and select "Data Collection" and change contacts reply to "Email". Again, customize the text if you'd like. Then click "Perform Actions".
Click the action block that appears, select "+Action". Choose "Hello Audio" then "Add Listener to Feed".
Select your feed title, and choose "Yes" (recommended) or "No" to send the listener a welcome email to start listening. For "Listener Email" select "Email". You're welcome to add name information as well if you have access to it.
Under "Response mapping" select your User Field that was created above under "Manychat Data" and then Save. This stores the link to the contact and allows you send it later.
Click the Plus button to add another Instagram step, enter text for your reply to the listener and click the curly brackets { }. Select "Customer User Fields" and choose the field title you created above.
Go back to the step that asked for the email address, and click "Next Step". Connect the line to the message sending the link.
Your finished automation should look like the following. I've rearranged them a bit to see more clearly.
Set it Live by clicking the button at the top. You can test by commenting on the Post you selected in the trigger.
Here's what the listener experiences in Instagram.

Tips & FAQ
Q: What happens if I try to add a listener who already exists?
A: The system will recognize the existing listener and update their information rather than creating a duplicate.
Q: Do listeners need to be in my Manychat contact list to be added to Hello Audio?
A: Yes, you'll need to collect their email address through Manychat first, then use that email to create or find them in Hello Audio.
Q: Can I use multiple Hello Audio feeds in the same Manychat account?
A: Absolutely! Each action lets you select which feed you want to work with from a dropdown menu.
Q: What's the difference between the universal link and a listener's personal link?
A: The universal link is a general link to your feed that works for anyone. A personal link is unique to each listener and tracks their individual access and listening behavior.
Q: Will the welcome email be sent automatically when I add a listener?
A: Only if you toggle "Send welcome email to listener" to Yes when setting up the "Add Listener to Feed" action.
Q: Can I tag listeners who don't exist in Hello Audio yet?
A: No, the "Tag Listener" action will only work if the listener already exists in your Hello Audio account. Use "Add Listener to Feed" first if needed.
Q: How do I know if an action was successful?
A: Most actions return data (like links) that you can use in subsequent messages. If a listener doesn't exist where required, the action simply does nothing without causing an error.
Pro Tip: Create a fallback in your Manychat flow for when listeners don't exist. For example, if "Find Listener" doesn't return a link, automatically direct them to your signup page instead.
Pro Tip: Use tags strategically to create sophisticated automation. For example, tag listeners when they complete certain actions, then use those tags to trigger special content or offers.
