Want your podcast episodes to publish at the same time every release day without manually adjusting the time each time you upload? Our Default Release Time feature for date-based feeds does exactly that.
In this guide, you'll learn:
What the Default Release Time does
How to set it in your feed settings
How it works when publishing new episodes
When you might override the default
Here's a 2-minute overview of how it works.
What Is the Default Release Time?
The Default Release Time lets you choose a specific time of day when your podcast episodes will be released. Once set, all future episodes in that feed will automatically publish at that time on their assigned dateβno more adjusting each episode manually.
This feature is available for date-based feeds only (not dripped feeds or instant feeds).
Example:
If you set your default release time to 2:00 AM, every future episode you schedule will be automatically set to publish at 2:00 AM on its scheduled date.
Why Use a Default Release Time?
Here are a few reasons creators love this feature:
π Save time: No need to manually set the release time every time you upload.
ποΈ Consistency: Keep your episode drops uniform for listener habits and automation.
β¨ Cleaner workflow: Avoid forgetting to update times or publishing inconsistently.
How to Set the Default Release Time in Hello Audio
Open a Date-Based Feed
From your Hello Audio dashboard, go to the feed where you want to enable the setting. It can be a public feed or private feed as long as it's Date-Based.Go to Feed Details
Click the Feed Details button in the top navigation.Scroll to "Default Release Time"
You'll see a time picker where you can set the desired time (e.g., 2:00 AM).Save Your Settings
Once saved, this time will be used for all new episodes you upload to this feed.
β Note: This change only applies to episodes published after setting the default. Previously uploaded episodes will retain their original times.
What Happens When You Upload a New Episode?
With the default release time set, every new episode you upload will:
Automatically use your saved release time
Require you to only select the date of release (not the time)
Be ready to publish with fewer clicks
If youβre scheduling an episode in advance, simply pick a future date. The time will auto-fill.
Can I Override the Default for a Specific Episode?
Absolutely. The default is just that, a default.
When uploading an episode, you can:
Manually change the release time for that specific episode
Keep the default time for most uploads, but make exceptions as needed
This gives you both speed and flexibility.
TL;DR β Default Release Time Quick Summary
β Works only with date-based feeds (both public and private)
β Set it once, and all future episodes will use that time
β Great for weekly or scheduled release patterns
β Saves clicks, reduces errors, and simplifies your workflow
β You can still override it per episode if needed
