How do I add listeners to my feed?

Add listeners to your private podcast with signup pages, universal links, manual uploads, native integrations, or Zapier.

You've created amazing content, but if people can't easily access it, all that hard work goes unconsumed. Getting your listeners connected to your private feed is the bridge between your valuable content and the transformation it can create in their lives.

What You'll Accomplish

By the end of this guide, you'll have:

✅ A clear understanding of all five ways to add listeners

✅ The ability to choose the right method for your situation

✅ Your first listeners added and listening

This takes about 5 minutes, and then you'll have your content flowing to the right ears.

Choosing Your Method

Here are your five options, from simplest to most advanced:

  1. Signup Page (easiest for you, collects listener emails)

  2. Universal Link (instant access, but no listener tracking)

  3. Manual Addition (bulk upload, full control)

  4. Native Platform Integrations (automatic, from the tools you already use)

  5. Zapier Integration (connects to almost any platform)

Not sure which one fits? If you want to know who's listening, choose any method except the universal link. Every other method gives each listener their own unique link, which is what powers your listener analytics.

Method 1: Share Your Signup Page

Best for: Lead magnets, paid content, or when you want to collect email addresses

Your feed automatically creates a signup page where listeners enter their email to get access. It's perfect when you want to build your list while delivering value.

How to copy the link for your signup page:

  1. Go to your feed and find the Signup Page link

  2. Copy the link using the clipboard icon

  3. Share it in emails, on social media, or on your website

  4. When someone signs up, they'll automatically get an email invitation to start listening

What happens next: Hello Audio sends a branded email from your account with their unique listening link. No extra work for you! You can also customize the email text to match your voice.

Method 2: Send the Universal Link

Best for: Quick, casual sharing when you don't need to know who's listening

Every feed comes with a universal link. Anyone who has it can subscribe right away, without entering an email address. That convenience comes with real trade-offs, so read this before you share it.

How to share your universal link:

  1. In your feed, find the Universal Link

  2. Copy it using the clipboard icon

  3. Drop it in an email, text message, or direct message

  4. Recipients click and start listening

Know the limits before you use it

Because nobody signs in or gives an email, Hello Audio can't tell universal link listeners apart. That means:

  • You can't see who's listening. Universal link subscribers don't show up as individual listeners in your account.

  • You can't see when or how much they listen. There's no per-listener data, so features like the Super Listener Score and individual listening stats won't apply to them.

  • You can't remove one person's access. Anyone with the link keeps listening until you create a new universal link (which cuts off everyone who used the old one) or archive the feed.

  • The link can be forwarded. Anyone who receives it can share it with anyone else.

  • It doesn't work well with drip feeds. A universal link starts the drip schedule from the date the feed was created, not the date someone subscribes. See Drip Feeds.

  • Spotify needs individual listeners. For Spotify access, add listeners with one of the other methods. See How do I subscribe to private podcasts with Spotify?

If any of those matter to you (paid content, course access, or anything you want to measure), use the signup page or another method instead. For the full details, see Universal Links.

Method 3: Manually Add Listeners

Best for: Existing email lists, course students, or when you want full control

This method lets you upload up to 1,000 email addresses at once. It's perfect when you already have a list of people who should have access.

Step-by-step manual addition:

  1. Click the Listeners tab in your feed

  2. Select Add Listeners

  3. Paste your email addresses (one per line)

  4. Choose whether Hello Audio should send the invitation email

  5. Click Add Listeners

Need to add a lot of listeners to one or many feeds at once? Head to the My Listeners page in your account to upload a CSV.

Want to send invitations yourself?

Toggle off the automatic email option before adding listeners. Once they're added, click Export CSV to download their unique links. Import that file into your email platform and write your own invitation. See Sending Unique Link Using Your Own Emails for the full process.

Method 4: Native Platform Integrations

Best for: Adding listeners automatically from the platforms you already use

We've built direct connections with popular email, course, checkout, and messaging platforms. When someone joins your list, enrolls in your course, or completes a purchase, they're added to your feed automatically. Native integrations are often more reliable than Zapier and take less setup.

Platform

What it does

Setup guide

Kit

Adds new Kit subscribers as listeners when they join a form or sequence, and syncs tags both ways

ManyChat

Adds listeners from Instagram, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, or SMS flows (for example, when someone comments a keyword on your Instagram post) and sends their link in the DM

ActiveCampaign

Adds contacts to your feed from an automation using a webhook

MemberVault

Adds product purchasers to your feed

Thinkific

Connects course enrollments to your feeds

ThriveCart

Adds customers after checkout

FG Funnels

Adds listeners from your FG Funnels funnels

You'll find all of these tools on your Integrations page. Each setup guide walks you through connecting the rest.

Method 5: Zapier Integration

Best for: Connecting Hello Audio to platforms we don't integrate with directly

Zapier connects Hello Audio to thousands of other apps. When someone takes an action in one of them, Zapier can add them to your feed automatically.

Popular Zapier connections include:

  • Course platforms (when someone enrolls)

  • Payment processors (after a purchase)

  • CRM systems (when a contact is tagged)

  • Membership sites (when someone joins)

To get set up:

Prefer a different automation tool? Generic Webhooks work with Make and other platforms that can send a webhook.

What Happens Next

Once you've added listeners with any method, they'll get access to your private feed and can listen in their favorite podcast app. Listeners added with a unique link (every method except the universal link) show up in your analytics, so you can see who's listening and how engaged they are.

Want to help new listeners get set up? Share How do I subscribe to my private podcast? or Which podcast apps support private podcasts? with them. For tips on getting people from "added" to "listening," see How do I get my listeners to subscribe to my private podcast?

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the signup page and the universal link?

The signup page collects an email address and gives each listener their own unique link, so you can track their listening and remove access later if you need to. The universal link gives instant access without an email, but you won't know who's listening and you can't remove one person. See Universal Links for more.

Which method should I use for my course students?

Manual addition or a native integration (like Thinkific, MemberVault, or Kit) works best. Each student gets their own link, so you control access and can see who's completing your content. Avoid the universal link here, since you won't be able to track or remove individual students.

Can I use multiple methods for the same feed?

Absolutely! You might use the signup page for new leads and manual addition for existing customers. Each listener gets the same great experience no matter how they were added.

Can I see who's actually listening to my content?

Yes, for every listener with a unique link. Your analytics show listening behavior for each person. Listeners who subscribed through the universal link aren't tracked individually.

How do I remove listeners later?

Go to your Listeners tab, find the person you want to remove, and click the remove option. They'll lose access right away. For full details, see How do I block or remove listeners from my feed? Universal link listeners can't be removed one at a time; you'd need to create a new universal link.

Why aren't listeners receiving invitation emails?

Ask them to check their spam or promotions folder first. If emails still aren't arriving, you can toggle off automatic emails and send invitations yourself using the exported CSV. To nudge people who were added but haven't subscribed yet, see Manually Send Reminder Email to Listeners Who Haven't Subscribed or Automatically Remind Listener Who Haven't Subscribed.

Why isn't the universal link working for my drip feed?

Universal links start drip schedules from the date the feed was created, not when someone subscribes, so new listeners may get episodes all at once or out of sequence. For drip feeds, add listeners individually so each person's schedule starts when they join. See Drip Feeds.

Why is my CSV upload failing?

Make sure your file contains only email addresses (one per line) with no headers or extra columns, and keep it under 1,000 addresses per upload.
